Phytocontrol is also able to rapidly quantify all heavy metals and trace elements in food of vegetable or animal origin, including baby food, by combining the most modern sample preparation and detection techniques:

  • Mineralization in a closed-system microwave oven under high pressure followed by detection / quantification using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
  • Arsenic speciation (arsenite ASIII, arseniate AsV, arsenobetaine AsB, arsenocholine AsC, monomethylarsonic acid MMA and dimethylarsinic acid DMA) by LC-ICP/MS, with quantification limits from 0.02mg/kg to 0.05mg/kg.

These modern laboratory techniques meet all requirements set by the European regulations RE 1881/2006 and RE 396/2005 for heavy metals and trace elements.

Our laboratory is accredited by COFRAC for program 99-3 for the analysis of heavy metals and trace elements in all foods intended for human (incl. infants) and animal consumption.
